Simon recently returned from an unforgettable experience at a children’s camp nestled in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains, Ukraine. The camp was funded thanks to the very generous donations of Teams4U supporters. The camp provided a much-needed respite for young Ukrainians, offering a safe and joyful environment where they could simply be children.
Camp Activities and Atmosphere
The camp was a whirlwind of fun and laughter. Days were filled with a variety of activities designed to keep the children entertained and engaged. From exhilarating hikes through the stunning natural surroundings to energetic water fights, the camp offered a diverse range of experiences. Sports such as football, cycling, gymnastics, and volleyball were popular, while opportunities for relaxation and creativity were also provided.
It was evident that the children thrived in this atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. Their laughter and enthusiasm were contagious, creating a truly uplifting environment.
Impact and Gratitude
A remarkable aspect of the camp was the absence of any air raid sirens and the noise from missiles and drones. For these children, accustomed to the constant threat of conflict, this period of peace was invaluable. The opportunity to experience a carefree childhood, even for a short time, had a profound impact on their well-being.
Our partner in Ukraine ‘Vova’, who was a farmer in Mariupol when war broke out said “I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the donors and supporters of Teams4u. Your generosity made this camp possible and brought immeasurable happiness to these children. The work you do is making a real difference in the lives of Ukrainians.”
The Teams4u children’s camp in the Carpathian Mountains was a truly inspiring experience. Witnessing the resilience and joy of these young people in the face of adversity was both humbling and heart-warming. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this incredible initiative.
Simon Cooke
Sophia, an eleven-year-old from Kyiv, loved the tranquillity of the Carpathian Mountains. The absence of sirens and the constant fear that plagued her life back home offered a much-needed respite. However, she told me she was worried about her Mum, back home in the besieged city. The weight of her family’s tragedy was particularly heavy; her twenty-three-year-old cousin had tragically lost his life on the frontlines, leaving behind a five-year-old child now facing the reality of life without a father.
We passed on a very generous donation of bikes from ‘Pioneer People Wirral‘ many of the children had never ridden bikes before and actually learnt to ride on the camp.
Howdens in Wrexham generously donated footballs, ‘KidsOut‘ donated clothes and toys, ‘TopMark Uniforms‘ donated football kits and hundreds of you generously donated money. Thank you, without you the camp wouldn’t have been possible.
