Has COVID19 affected the Shoebox Appeal?
Yes. Some areas will not be operating in the same way as usual, however, most are doing their best to continue in some capacity. All of our checking centres and warehouses have gone through the necessary procedures to be COVID Secure and are still receiving shoeboxes.
Do I need to pre-book to deliver a shoebox?
No. But please do check our Shoebox Drop-off locations for their opening times.
What E-resources do you have available?
We have e-versions of our leaflet, labels, posters and even Shoebox Assembly materials for schools. Please visit our Downloadable Resources page.
Can I still volunteer?
Yes. However, all of our checking centres and warehouses have a maximum capacity allowed at any one time, so volunteers will need to pre-book with their regional coordinator and may need to answer some questions about their health status.
Can I give you a donation to make a Shoebox for me?
Can I download a leaflet?
Yes. Please visit our Downloadable Resources page.
I am doing multiple shoeboxes but only have one leaflet?
Instead of needing more leaflets we have labels available to download and print from here. Please visit our Downloadable Resources page.
I’ve never done a shoebox before. Can you tell me what to put in?
Please take a look at our shoebox guide which gives a list of items you can include and the items we ask you not to put in. We also have some lovely videos showing an example of a box for each age range on our YouTube Channel.
Can I add liquids to my box?
Yes. We are accepting small bottles of shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/bubbles etc. provided these have an unbroken seal &/or are foil capped. For bottles that don’t have a seal we suggest you tape round the lid to prevent any accidental spills.
Can I add chocolate to my box?
Yes. We accept chocolate as long as it has a use by date from March 2021.
I don’t have a shoebox. Can I use another box instead?
Yes. Please keep to these approximate dimensions if possible: 17cm depth, 28cm length & 12cm height, though we will accept larger boxes. We do reserve the right to re-pack contents into an alternative container if necessary to meet our packing requirements.
How can I get an empty shoebox?
Most shoe shops still transport their shoes in boxes, even if they don’t stack the shoes in their boxes on the shelves. Most are generally willing to give you an empty shoebox if you ask.
Alternatively, if you are local to one of our warehouses, please pop in and ask for a spare shoebox.
You can also order our printed flat-pack shoeboxes at 35p each from the order resources page.
Does the shoebox have to be a certain size?
We kindly ask that you use a standard sized shoebox (Approximately Ladies UK Size 6/7, or around these dimensions: 17cm depth, 28cm length & 12cm height)* for your gift. We know this isn’t always possible and will do our utmost to preserve your gift even if it comes in a larger box. However, in some cases, we do have to change a shoebox to meet our packing requirements.
*The exception to this is the Home Box. We will accept boot/walking shoe sized boxes for these, as the items to include sometimes don’t fit in a standard sized shoebox.
Where is my nearest Drop-off point?
Please visit our Shoebox Drop-off locations page. Please note the deadlines vary area by area and between some of the drop-off points.
What is the deadline for dropping off by box?
If you have received a leaflet from a school please contact them to find out when your boxes need to be in by. Otherwise, please check the deadlines in your local area by visiting our Shoebox Coordinators page or Shoebox Drop-off locations page. Due to longer trucking journeys at the moment we kindly ask that all shoeboxes are in by Friday 20th November (but some areas may have dates earlier than this so please do check).
I need to arrange a shoebox collection. Who do I call?
Please visit our Shoebox Coordinators page for contact details for your area.
Can I make one donation to cover multiple shoeboxes?
If you donate online you should receive a confirmation email with a donation reference. Please write this reference on each donation slip (or on a piece of paper) and place in your box(es).
Alternatively you can make one donation by cheque or cash and place in an envelope and attach this to the inside of your shoebox lid. You do not need to put anything in the other shoeboxes to confirm you have donated.
I have donated online. Where do I get my donation reference?
All donations generate an automated confirmation email which includes a donation reference. If you have not received one please check your spam/junk/clutter folders.
I have not received an email after I donated?
Please check your spam/junk/clutter folders in case our confirmation email has ended up in there. Otherwise, on the rare occasions, an email has not been sent, please check your bank account to confirm payment has been made and use the date and time of your donation as your reference (e.g. 0811171211)

Where do the shoeboxes go?
The shoeboxes this year are going to deprived children/vulnerable adults/families in Romania, Belarus, Bosnia, and Moldova.
Does Teams4U add religious or political materials to/with the boxes?
No. Each box is an unconditional gift from one person to another, no strings attached.
Can I go to give out shoeboxes?
Yes. We aim to run a shoebox distribution trip every year which is open for people to join. Nevertheless, due to COVID19 we are not able to take volunteers on a distribution trip this year.
