Help Us Finish the Maternity Ward in Uganda
Supporting mothers and babies at Kumi Health Centre IV

Project Update
Thanks to a generous donation of £10,000, Teams4U began work to support Kumi Health Centre IV in Uganda. Originally intended for a borewell, discussions with Dr. Beatrice, the facility’s lead, revealed a far more urgent need: expanding the overcrowded maternity ward.
Designed to hold just 10 beds, the ward is currently forced to accommodate 19, creating extremely challenging conditions for both mothers and staff. With an average of 40 babies delivered every week, the pressure on the facility is immense.
In response, and with agreement from Dave Cooke, the decision was made to redirect funding toward building a much-needed maternity ward extension.
Why This Matters
- Improve maternal and newborn health outcomes
- Reduce overcrowding and risk of infection
- Enhance quality of care for mothers and babies
- Support staff working conditions and efficiency

Construction Progress
Architectural plans were completed and construction began in October 2024. The building has now reached plastering stage — a huge milestone — but the project is not yet complete.
A Visit from Gemma Hunt
During her visit, Gemma witnessed firsthand both the incredible dedication of the staff and the urgent need for improved facilities. On the day of filming alone, nine babies were born — each one highlighting the vital importance of completing this project.
What’s Still Needed
- Windows & Doors – £4,180
- Terrazzo Flooring – £5,500
- Paint – £1,870
- Electrical Wiring – £770
- Guttering & Water Tanks – £1,749
Total Remaining: £14,069
Until these final elements are completed, mothers and babies are forced to use an unfinished space — something no family should have to face during such an important moment in their lives.
