Having successfully been granted funding from the Welsh Government, this program is trialling our first Sanitation project in Uganda. The team will be facilitating the installation of pressurised latrine covers in the boys and girls toilets in 10 schools in addition to the installation of hand-washing facilities in each school. The team will be delivering an education program guided to the different ages of the school children on hygiene and the importance of hand-washing before mealtimes and after going to the toilet. Girls of menstrual age will also be offered education on menstrual health and hygiene, plus provided with washable sanitary pads as part of our Develop with Dignity program.
As part of this being a trial program, the team will also be conducting some research to measure the difference the upgrades to the schools will make and whether their educational program was successful.
